Jasco Games has announced that it has officially taken over the UFS line from Fantasy Flight Games. They will be releasing a new set this fall, and will be taking some major steps in the advancement of the game over the next few months. Below is the text of their announcement:

The new website should be up on Wednesday the 2nd of June, and we will finally have a site dedicated to the Universal Fighting System. As soon as the site goes live, you will be able to see upcoming events, post on the new forums, see the new banned and errata lists, check out the organized play program, shop in the store, and much more. There will be another announcement once the site is live to let you know to check it out and give us your feedback.
Promo and Pack Distribution
If you are a veteran player of UFS, than you are surely aware of the Promo and Pack distribution problems that UFS has faced for prize support and cards in general in the past. There is a new system in place to make sure that cards are no longer impossible to get if you do not attend events, and to make sure that everyone has a fighting chance at the game.
Starter Decks
Buying a starter deck in the future will be worth your while! The new starter decks will have several useful, rare, and powerful cards so new players and veterans alike will be able to fight with a minimal investment. Look for spoilers and mechanics for upcoming starter decks in the future, and prepare to be blown away!
More Incentive for Organized Play
Starting after GenCon, organized play will change for the better! The Pro Tour Circuit will allow players to win a plane ticket to the world tournament and get a bye in the first round of play, in addition to other great prize support! PTC events will bring a whole new competitive edge to UFS! We will also be introducing a new kind of event to UFS, “The Storyline Event” which will make top 8 a whole new ball game! At all story line events, the top 8 qualifiers will have their games digitally recorded and sent to our writing staff. The fights will be transformed into a battle of epic proportions and will have affects on the future of the game. Top 8 characters could sit out for the next tournament because of a broken leg, or maybe they beat the boss, and found the secret to ultimate power. There will be several very exciting and cool plot twists and cards that come out of this new type of event, so check the site and see if you can get a storyline event near you!
Better Communication
Jasco Games has an open door policy. If there is anything you need to know about the state of the game, rules, card questions, or anything else, we would be more than happy to discuss it with you by phone or e-mail. You are as much a part of our company as anyone on staff here, so there will never be a question of what is going on with the game again.
Direction of the Game
Last year at GenCon, Steve announced that we would be rotating blocks for UFS early. This was an emergency decision that was put in effect to clean up an unhealthy environment, and for the most part, UFS is in a much cleaner state than it has been in the past. That having been said, you may have noticed that the “Fire” symbol almost doubles most other symbols in the standard format. This is because the rotation was not intended, and fire needed more power to make it a viable symbol at the time. Now there will be a clean up to balance out all of the remaining symbols with fire over the next two sets. In addition we will be clearly defining what each symbol is supposed to do and some symbols may get a complete overhaul to become more competitive. To start the clarification of symbols we will be starting the ATTACKS OF POWER tournament season which will define each individual symbol and add some really cool cards to the card pool.
GenCon
GenCon this year will be the only time ever to compete in a world tournament with a deck with LEGAL proxies! Everyone will have a fair card pool this year, while we gear up during the UFS transition period. At GenCon we will also be announcing several cool new spoilers, art, and other exciting news to the UFS community! We have a huge surprise for our players this year as well, and you will not want to miss out on this awesome experience! Come visit our booth and meet the staff, and let us know what you think about the new management!
Podcast
We are working with our web designers to make sure that we can handle a LIVE web show for UFS! We want the show to stream live, so that you can call us and ask questions and make comments as you hear us talking. This should introduce a whole new element to the UFS community and keep our staff on their toes!
Play Testers!
Everyone will have the right to play test UFS in the future, and here’s how you’ll do it: On the website there will be a downloadable PDF file with hundreds of potential cards on it. Several of those cards will be printed in the next set and other future sets. You will not know which cards will be in the next set until it comes out, but this will give us a chance to test the environment and the cards, months and even years before printing! This should make it possible to catch problem cards months before they would be considered for the print run, and keep the game fun and healthy.

Oo, exciting stuff. I really like the idea of having a proxy-legal tournament during this transition, too.
